About

Ron has been a severe asthmatic since childhood so asthma has always been a part of his life.

His ultimate goal is to have a copy of his book in every primary school library; and to educate parents in how to help their asthmatic children have a better quality of life.

Ron remembers: 'My father suffered from asthma, constantly wheezing and being extremely short of breath. I can vividly recall when I was about fourteen how my father would hold his head over a metal pie dish with burning astma powder in it. A very popular asthma remedy then, this powder contained a variety of herbs (including marijuana and belladonna) plus creosote, and could be readily purchased in pharmacies. My father would light the powder, bend over and inhale the fumes given off. He did this every morning.

When I was twenty-one he was prescribed different medication but remained faithful to the powder. He eventually found relief by natural means when he was introduced late in life to a particular breathing technique.

Ron had his first severe attack when he was eight, from which time on he took tablets several times a day, as well as an atomiser. Despite this, asthma attacks and wheezing were a regular part of his daily life.

It wasn't till he was in his thirties he decided to try alternative therapies - the breathing technique which helped his father also helped him. After a brief relapse during a time when he did not persevere, he did return to the programme, expanded it, and never looked back!

From that time, Ron has developed an interest in alternative medicine, and trained in various disciplines - naturopathy, chiropractic, acupuncture, Chinese medicine, homeopathy, herbal medicine, massage and German high-tech bio-energetic medicine. His health improved dramatically - to the extent that he completed a full marathon when he was forty-five. What a difference to the person who could not run 500 metres without wheezing, coughing or triggering a severe attack.

In his book, Overcoming Asthma Naturally, he discusses many methods of treating and preventing Asthma attacks. At no point does he underestimate the value of orthodox medication - but to decrease your reliance / need for them.
